How We came To be..."Join us for a walk down memory lane, up to the present, and into the future………"
We are located in the great State Of North Carolina. I am Martha, the MAR in "LinMar", allow me to introduce you to the LIN in "LinMar", he likes to do things the formal way. Both of us have designated duties, he just loves to dress up to do his.
Our first six litters were wonderful, arriving two and a half years apart. First born was "the dog", our son (Michael Lin) followed by five lovely "bitches", our daughters (Mary Martha, Maria Michelle, Marcia Melissa, Melanie Mae, and Myra Marguerite) all born with a Boxer in their beds, our first pet Boxer, Duchess.
We could not show Boxers and raise our children with a very good success rate, so we finished the "Kids" first. Then came the turning point for LinMar when we met Walter Ross of Philadel Boxers at a Mighty Match in Raleigh, NC from whom we acquired our first show dog, Ch Philadel's Fireside Chat, known as "The Iceman". He took his first points in Winston Salem, NC, winning over the Specials Dog that day under Ms. Ed Bivens. We had no clue what was about to happen to our lives.
With that first win, we were hooked. The Iceman loved to show, and show he did for Cheryl Robbins. Since the beginning of Iceman's career, Keith and Cheryl Robbins of CherKei Boxers served as our mentors. Our kennel was founded on two of their great studs dogs, Ch CherKei's High Cotton, SOM and Ch CherKei's Ultimate High. Thus far, we have finished 20 champions, 17 homebred, and two dams of merit (LinMar’s Love Always O’Philadel "Hey Hey Paula" and CH LinMar’s Kitty Hawk "Wilbur"). Eight are from these two wonderful Boxers, LinMar's Love Always O' Philadel (Hey Hey Paula) and Ch LinMar's Absolut High (Vodka) who is out of our Ch LinMar's Sweet Caroline.
Our First Litter
When our first litter of prospective "Show Puppies" arrived I thought something was wrong with them, I said, this sure flopped, all of them are pets, they have pink noses...little did I know that in 8 to 10 days they would turn black.
The fun was just beginning, Cheryl Robbins finished our first homebred champion, Ch LinMar's Sweet Caroline on the Tar Heel Circuit. She loved to show and she sure could move. In October of her 8th year she won the Veteran's Class with Jacque Whidden at the Georgia Boxer Specialty. Her son, Ch LinMar's Absolut High V CherKei was Winners Dog, and his Sire, Ch CherKei's Ultimate High was Best of Breed, it was "all in the family" that day!! Vodka finished with a 5 point major in January, 1998.
Next came the litter out of a bitch that we leased from Walter, Philadel's Winter Solstice "Soli". We bred her to the famous Ch Heldenbrand's Jet Breaker. Some of you may remember our ad in the Boxer Review with babies bursting out of starbursts with a firecracker in the middle, and the ad read "Look for My Babies to Make Boxer History" and all of their names were closings of a letter, and of course our most wonderful of all is our Dam or Merit, LinMar's Love Always O'Philadel, "Hey, Hey, Paula". She was never in a show ring but has proven to be a great producer of show dogs.
During the 1993 National Basketball Championship game, LinMar's "Tar Heel Gang" was born and so goes their names from the slogans of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. What's a tar heel you ask? We repeated this breeding and it was successful again.... five lovely bitches and three finished.
We have remodeled the entire right end of our home to accomodate our Boxers and re-landscaped the right side of the property, and believe you me, more than one person called us crazy. Come along for a stroll up the walkway to "Tar Heel Country" for a tour of how LinMar Boxers looks now.
Visit us often as new and exciting things are always happening at LinMar.
